This was my third time talking at Voices on the Coast organised by the amazing Kelly Dunham and her team. Due to a terrible storm I had a 5 hour wait at Sydney airport, so I was relieved when I arrived at the Sunshine Coast. It was surprising cold.
All the authors stayed at the Alex Mirage and the
apartments were fabulous. Each day a student from
Immanuel College helped me set up the books and videos and escorted me to the next venue at the University of the Sunshine Coast. I did three shows each day and a talk in the evening to teachers about the importance of STEM with Sam Wheeler and Dr Andrew King. This was followed by a sumptuous dinner and entertainment by Leigh Hobbs, Philip Wilcox and Sarah Kinsella and poetry by Russell Fletcher.
I was impressed with the IT system because my selected videos were saved on all the computers in the different venues. Great technology. The ‘Green’ room was a wonderful place to relax and meet authors and illustrators. It was a fabulous literary festival!
